Hello everyone! I hope you're doing well this Friday. Thank you to Nathan Jasper for requesting this movie through my Reactr page. Some heavy subject matter in this one, but tackled decently well. I'm looking forward to your thoughts! Thank you! [Direct link here.]

And this is why I love Noomi. She's so good at making us believe what's happening on screen, making us feel it and understand it. I mean, duh, that's an actor's job but some actors just have a way of elevating the minimum job requirements, you know? The clueless dad is a cliche for a reason. Dads are always the ones to be like "she's around here somewhere", "it's fine", or "you're overreacting". All things considered, Claire held it together WAY better than I would have. I love the performances in this film. Noomi, Yvonne, and Luke all delivered incredibly. Noomi's ability to showcase a mother's grief and the obsessive spiral down the rabbit hole that grief took her hits so hard. But there's also Yvonne who was able to make us feel her uneasiness, anger, and desperation. Both women played off each other so well. I love that it made us both sympathize with Lizzie and hate Lizzie at the same time. What happened to her was horrible but her obsession caused her to literally terrorize another family. That final reveal was such a chilling, tearjerking moment. I like how you looked at it. Both mothers were wrong in several ways and the only true side to be on is Lola's because she grew up believing Claire was her mother only to have her world shattered hearing her mother confess the truth about Lizzie. Trauma, trauma everywhere! God help the poor kid when Christmas rolls around. Good catch, picking out Yvonne as Miranda Lawson! I tend to have a tough time with voice actors unless they're super distinct like Mark Hamill or Anna Demetriou so nice job with that! I can see people's points about the ending. It could have gone the complete opposite with Lizzie ending up dead or in a mental hospital. I personally prefer the ending we got because we already thought Lizzie was crazy so if it ends with her being crazy, there's no twist. I liked that there was some redemption for her, though let me be clear, I do NOT condone sneaking into a child's bedroom with scissors. Glad you enjoyed it, have a wonderful rest of your day :)
