Luke Cage: Just Get a Rep [1x05] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Glad you're feeling better! I love Claire's purpose realization and I hope she can fulfill it. I want to keep seeing her. Yes, bear spray would certainly slow Luke down and make him have trouble seeing.

Ahh poison! Didn't think of that. And good call on the surgery stuff too. Another thing that never crosed my mind. To your last point... πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

HAHA I love that

That Chitauri material def be getting everywhere, that's for sure.

He would have been, for sure! And yes, more history with Claire is always appreciated. I like your analysis on Cottonmouth.

My covid has finally gotten better and I felt well enough to watch the reaction and episode. Was nice seeing Claire and her basically realizing her purpose might be to the hero that helps the heros. Seeing the fight scenes with Cage great as always but the way he fought Cottonmouth with better words and speech to honor Pop, was a gut punch for sure. Then seeing you're gears turning in you're head, "How can I hurt Cage" got me thinking you might have something with you on a trail hike, Bear mace! I assume you need that on the trail in Canada It wont hurt him but would slow him down, I think anything that would be harmful to breath might be a big weakness for him. But being a ex-cop, which I want to know more about I assume I wont take him long to realize he might need a way to block chemical intakes.

Not that I want to kill Luke, buuut...if I did, I think the first thing I would try would be poison since we know that any sort of medical intervention is tricky (since he breaks needles, scalpels, etc.) So...poison...maybe radiation? Launch him into space with no oxygen supply? Major head trauma and prevent him from getting any medical aid...I think without Claire's intervention, the shotgun blast to the head in Jessica Jones probably would have done it. He's probably still susceptible to disease/pathogens...and maybe moreso, again, since a lot of traditional medicine is off the table. When you really start thinking about it, unbreakable skin is not the miracle it seems to be. Sure, he can survive gunfire, but things that many people survive would be fatal to him due to surgery being out of the question. Appendicitis? Heart attack? Stroke? Heck, in theory he could get a cancer with a high survival rate and die because he can't have chemo. Now I kinda wanna write some story with Claire having to play nurse to him because he has the flu and is being a ginormous baby about it. "So, what? Someone can empty a gun at you at point blank range, but you've got the sniffles so the sky is falling. Suck it up, Chicken Little, and eat your fucking soup. Yes, I put an ice cube in it so it doesn't burn your widdle mouth."

When Luke said, "I am the gun," it reminded me of a comic panel that showed one of the possible future Captain Americas, who was Luke & Jessica's daughter. She was a big buff black woman who bursts into a room with people firing at her and one of them says something like, "If she's supposed to be Captain America, where's her shield," and as bullets are bouncing off her, she says, "I AM the shield!"

Great to see the connections to the larger MCU. Hammer tech guns again and we also now hear about the Judas Bullets made from Chituari metal. We have seen many villains use Chituari material. Centipede from agents of shield used it to form the centipede they attached to Mike Peterson's arm. The vulture from spiderman had a suit made of it and they were selling it as well before spiderman stopped them. Hydra had lots of it in age of Ultron when the avengers went to get the scepter from their base. Luke's confidence when he walks in a room knowing that nobody can touch him is always hilarious to see. Cottonmouth is slowly seeing the true threat he is. Claire appears and her story continues here. Such a great character to tie these heroes story together.

Christopher simeon

Never apologize for being the smartest person in the room....unless of course the person you're debating has no problem with shooting you dead if he doesn't like what you say. Cottonmouth's trying so hard to keep it all together but that board meeting speaks to why he can't. Everything he has was given to him. Mabel gave him the club. He and Mariah shares the deed on Brownstone. Sure, he made money in real estate but he has no idea how to run a criminal organization. He's grasping for straws, panicking but trying to keep a cool demeanor and keep the king attitude. I do give him credit for keeping an intimidating presence despite the trouble Luke's continually causing. But taking it out on struggling people is a dangerous move. Push people with nothing to lose far enough and you're essentially dangling meat in front of an alligator. I love how we're getting a little backstory on Claire! Rough neighborhoods make tough people. I knew I liked Misty. Mystery Meat beats Veggie any day LOL Loved the funeral scene. Pop would have been proud.
