Hi everyone,
It took a while, but we are back with a new Wiki Wednesday!
The Uum Peninsula, the birth grounds of Al'nur and Qadira and of course the Camel Riders of Qams! (Something about a may release...)
You already have access to these cool miniatures since May so I thought it would be a good idea to give you some more information about these dangerous camel riders from the wild areas around Al-Duddah.
You may have read in one of the first wiki Wednesdays (or check out his wiki lore page: click here) about the devious tactician Al'nur, leader of the camel riders, but now we're going to delve into the vast area where they come from: The Uum Peninsula.
The Uum peninsula is a region to the south-east of the Xanthian Isthmus, so it is even further south than the City of Jagrad. Because of the arid climate of the Uum Peninsula there is not much possibility for hosting grand cities like the cities we see on the upper halve of the Xanthian Isthmus. Only on the southern coast of the peninsula it is possible, due to a more mild climate. Here you can find the great cities of Qams and Jerit.
The upper region of the Uum peninsula consist of vast plains of sand and hot deserts. There are only a number of oases here were people live. The most known desert is the infamous Xanthian Desert.
So, already a tiny summary of what you can expect in this week's Wiki Wednesday: The Uum Peninsula!
--------------------------------------------
The history of the Uum Peninsula begins with the founding of the town of Jerit in the south-west of the peninsula by Olo, a grandson of the mountain god Orgon in the times which came to know as the times of gods. Olo founded the city after the discovery of huge swaths of masamite stones in the mountains of Bunan. The masamite stones contain various magical properties, which made the stones highly sought after in the south-eastern region around Jerit. Jerit became a blooming city with many traders and travelers from Ebedos coming to the city.
But the rare masamite stones not only attracted benevolent merchants, the wealth of Jerit became known throughout the ancient world and various factions in Ebedos wanted to obtain the riches of Jerit for themselves. So it was that the mighty goblin leader Mezangzzi rallied a large army to conquer the city of Jerit, and subsequently the masamite filled mines of Bunan. After the conquest, the city of Jerit saw many years of decline, until Jerit was no more than a small city. It was a torment in the eyes of the great god Orgon, who saw Jerit as his city, but it was the destruction of the temple of Olo that was the last straw. Orgon send down a plague down on the city, and in one night, all goblin children fell death to the ground. The remaing goblins wept throughout the next following seven days. It was on the seventh day that they stormed to the palace of Mezangzzi and gruesomely murdered him and his family. The goblins from Jerit brought the body of Mezangzzi to the remainings of Olo's temple to settle the debt with Orgon. Orgon accepted the gift, with the only condition, that the people who lived in Jerit before the coming of Mezangzzi's army could return to their homes in the city.
Since the rise of Medrya, the Uum Peninsula saw some turbulent times. A time of great decay of the cities on the southern edge of the region. Only the city of Jerit, again, grew to power with the income of the masamite stones flowing in from the north. It was also the time which came to know as the Dawn of the Tribes, a time filled with wars between the tribes of the northern half of the Uum Peninsula, with the absolute crown jewel of being the Oase of Wah Hata.
It was in the year 203 that the chieftain of the Wahada Tribe, Al'nur, took the city of Qams in the south-east corner of the Uum Peninsula and in so, conquered the eastern part of the Uum Peninsula under the banner of Al'nur and his camel riders. But Al'nur already saw the shadows coming from the north in the form of the growing Empire of Jagrad. Instead of fighting an unfair war against the massive armies of Jagrad, he decided to join the empire on his own terms. He married his sister, Sahra "The Believer", to the brother of the king, the satrap of Armurad; and he gifted his most valuable warrior: Qadira "The Camel Rider", to the king of Jagrad as his personal bodyguard.
