Wiki Wednesday: The Night's Cult .10

Yes, yes i know... it is Thursday... 

Hi everyone,

A few days ago someone asked me, what exactly is the Night's Cult? To which i replied uhh then you just look at a previous Wiki Wednesday? 

And then there was the answer: But, there isn't one yet about the Cult... And he was right. The impending danger, the cult from the east, Selene and her companions. I hadn't devoted a Wiki Wednesday to it at all! So for everyone who don't know exactly what the Night's Cult is; a little explanation.

Background

The Night’s Cult is a cult formed in the City of Jagrad, the greatest city of the east and the capitol of the Empire of Jagrad, around the year 212 although this can’t be said with any certainty. The cult was first known as the Children of the Moon and was founded by Babak “The Boss”, an ally and personal friend of Bhazrod from Jagrad. Babak was a gang leader in the poorest district of the City of Jagrad, the Deeps, there he ruled the streets with fear using his band of thugs and accomplices to rule over the poor of the city. The Children of the Moon was founded as a carehouse for orphans, the sick and other helpless people, but Babak used these weak and poor from Jagrad to work for him as a source of cheap labor in the harbor and in his many trading houses.

Origins in Jagrad

The first members who identified themselves as cultists were Benu “The Leader”, Yabid “Hellbound”, Khana from the Deeps and Mehrana “The Silent”. These orphans and lowest of Jagradian society decided to break from the chains of their horrible boss Babak “The Boss”, by creating a secret society with the main goal of getting back their freedom and those of the other Children.

While the cult had little success and following in the early years, it grew big after the banished priestess from the Realm of Eros Selene “The Night’s Mistress” arrived in the City of Jagrad with her band of followers. Selene decided to do her utmost to get revenge on the City of Eros and the people who inhabited this realm, therefore she turned the Children of the Moon into her own private army of zealots with the help of Spyron “Moonface”, a leper which she helped in her time as Great Priestess of Aur when Spyron was just a smallboy. At first the members of the Children of the Moon’s house were reticent about joining Selene’s group, but after the Raid on Munra Street by Bhazrod of Jagrad and the city guards they were soon convinced and choosed Selene their absolute leader.

Finally Selene also took back her most valuable asset: The Serpent Staff of Asasra. At the moment she fled the City of Eros into exile their was no time to take back her staff from the archives of the Temple of Aur, that was placed there after her arrest. But with the help of her servant Ring “The Thief”, she succeeded to re-retrieve this powerful, magical artifact. Selene even took the extra mile by empowering the Staf of Asasra even more by killing the first owner of the staff: Asasra herself, who was hidden in the depths of the Xantian desert.

After growing in the shadows of Jagrad for months, continuously focusing on the endgame, Selene decided it was time to strike a first blow on the Realm of Eros. Through her Jagradian court connection with the wife of the king’s brother Sahra “The Believer”, the cult gained access to the magical archives and the necessary funding needed to raise an army.

It was under the leadership of Helios “The Lost”, son of Solon “The Wise”, that the cult transformed from a militia to a small army. Thanks to the years of military training Helios enjoyed in Nemis, he managed to turn this gang of poor people into a strong, but small, army.

While Selene was preparing in Jagrad by setting up and training an army, Spyron “Moonface” decided to look for allies in the regions around Eros. After years of warfare and the conquest of surrounding areas by the Realm of Eros, these lands were filled with enemies of Eros, enemies who wanted to take revenge on the Golden Realm.

The first ally Spyron found was in the barbarians from the Acenii Tribes, to the north of the migthy Realm of Eros. Spyron bribed them with great wealth and even greater power to gain from the destruction of the Erosian cities. It was in these lands that Spyron carried out his most dark rituals and experiments on the local populace.
