I'm home from Wacken! 🤘 Actually, I wanted to do this post a few days ago from there but I was constantly working and on alert - though I had the coolest office, to be fair! Also I didn't really wear the outfits I brought from my private closet but always work-related, branded stuff. Not too bad either since I made a small "Bembel Fashion" collection for Wacken, printing the logo on shiny wetlook tops. And Fuxteufelswild joined from Wednesday on, working as promo staff for me. 😅
My résumé of the festival itself: it's huge, it's super commercial and it's good that I can cross if off my bucket list now. 😇 And due to the heat, it was really really dusty. Everyone was covered in dirt all the time. 🤪 I wanted to see 3 concerts and fought hard to get in eyesight of the stage for the biggest one, Slipknot - close enough at least to really spot the people on the stage with my own eyes, not only on video wall. I do prefer smaller concerts with smaller crowds tbh. As working staff I was able to camp really close to the infield, I think if I would have to camp 30 minutes away from the infield, as many visitors who did not arrive on Monday or Tuesday already had to, it would be a killjoy. Big minus point: it's really far away from my home. Car drive was 9h, thanks to a lot of traffic jams 3h more than the fastest possible ride. Would I go there again as a regular festival visitor? Probably not. But overall it was really fun, mainly thanks to the awesome crew I was there with and thanks to the benefits of being able to move around backstage.
