Recreated - Cuba Libre (Rum & Cola) from "Cocktail"

The movie "Cocktail" from 1988 showed what happens when you put Tom Cruise's manic energy behind the bar of a TGI Fridays. Before he mastered his sick flare bartending moves, he got stumped by the Cuba Libre. Let's learn the original recipe and then a next-level rum & cola.

I don't think tonic water would reduce in the same way, as I believe its a much lower percentage of syrup per bottle than something like Coke. You could however just purchase the syrup. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=tonic+syrup

i never considered reducing a soft drink to a syrup form. do you think i could do the same with a diet tonic water? i can't find any such syrups around.
