Starting the final build of the Longship

Ladies and gentlemen,

I have just returned from a couple of days with the grandchildren am in the process of working towards the release by completing the final build (and everything required for it).

As you can see above the main hull is done. I have added the color shield version part and an alternate option for the raised decks in the bow and stern (bottom left corner one).

I have also made alternate figureheads. Hope to be able to add a couple more.

For this build I went for a remove/replace build stile of the figureheads. I made the adaptions to the parts so you can slot them on or off.

Once you get the fit tight and right it works great. You can move the ship around and even turn it in mid air and they will hold! Great option if you want to be able to swap out the look of the ship for different uses.

Next I need to work on the mastshoe and add the missing oar holder parts. For this build I am going for a on-landing-dock configuration. Mast and oars all packed up and held by these stands I have to add.

BTW the grandchildren are on Sicily now these days and it was an exciting visit as the Etna volcano decided to start smoking, rumbling and spew lava the day we landed. I love the little ones but I was also a tiny bit glad when I left again. I rather prefer to watch such nature spectacles on a screen :P But as all the locals where fine with the show I guess it's nothing to worry about.

Hope to show you more ship stuff soon. Until next time, stay safe, have fun and keep building!

Chris

Magnificent! This might turn out to be the best paper longship design yet.
