In the meantime I have completed the color and texture variations for the jolly boat.
In addition to the regular wood look I have added the usual color modifier and dirt layers, but also a special "old wood" layer to make for a really old boat that has been rotting away on some island. I have built a dark version but it could be a lighter, bleached texture depending how you like.
Here you can also see some metal details on the oar holders and on the bow for tying up the boat. On the bow keel I have added the option for a tied rope detail. And if you want to turn your boat over, maybe for cover? ... well, you can, because I have texture the bottom!

On the big ships they usually have a different color scheme. For that I added a white or black hull with some ornaments on the outside and blue or red interior. Here is a white outside hull with a black side strip and wooden top line and a blue interior. (For a more sinister fleet I would go with a dark hull and red interior)

Now that I have this finished, I want to update the small rowing boat too. There will be only the wood and old wood variations, so it should be done soon. And then I have to go back to the docks, as this was my actual goal for this month! :-)
Happy building,
Chris
