I was a grass widower this weekend, so I had enough time to create all the ground tiles with roads and "openings" (like open spaces of dirt within the grass) I could think of.
I ended up with almost 100 roads, bends, crossings and openings!
Here is a little schematic view of how I designed them.

When you have a road tile (upper row), you can activate (via layers) a left or right (or up and down) branch for crossings or select a bend (upper right).
For the openings (bottom row) you have the basic open space and then you can add "entrances" (light green, roads leading N, E, S, W) or "extensions" (dark green, when you want the opening to span over multiple tiles), corner fillers (blue) and all the combinations thereof.
I also recreated the basic grass and dirt files. Now they all support the 9x6" format with the 6x6" only print option. And with the new way to compress files I have found out recently, they all sum up apx. 50MB together! The raw files are a couple of 100MB each :-)
I might do some more irregular "openings" for grassland that has some patches of dirt areas instead of the regular roads and openings (for building foundations and market places etc.)
All in all a very productive weekend :-)
I see a bright future of happy building!
