Modifying A Twist Drill For Drilling Brass.

Hey Folks,

The main clock video is uploading as I write this, so all going well you'll see it in about 12 hours.

Until then, here's an additional spare parts video that I recorded yesterday afternoon. I've been meaning to record something about the problems with drilling brass for some time, and decided that since the next clock episode has a lot of drilling, that now is the perfect time.

All the best,

Chris.

Well frak me. That is a handy tip that I have been looking for ages. Granted I mostly work on steel but as Ruben mentions plastics and polyesters tend to grab too and so that alone is worth a separate set of drill bits. Cheers Chris!

... will definitely improve the situation for plastics, acrylics etc

Definitely worth considering Ruben. Strictly speaking alu doesn't require a zero rake like brass, but maybe do some tests, and and see if it improves the situation.

Chris, would the same be true for alu and platic drills as well? They also have the tendacy to grab... Just ruened a whole evenings work!
