Hey Paul, thanks very much for the kind words :) You are correct in your assessment of the 90 degree spotting drill. After experimenting a bit, I found that the difference was not enough to justify forcing the audience into a new purchase, or making a custom cutter, so I went with the standard twist drill geometry to keep it simple. Having said that, the flat spot wasn't really an issue because at that scale it really is quite small. The brass is also soft enough to deform slightly to accommodate the axle tip, so it quickly 'formed' the correct geometry anyway, and locked itself into place. Well worth the time to make one, they are an awesome little grown-ups toy :) The clock bearings will be standard pivots running in pivot holes, nice and straight forward. Cheers mate.

Chris, Beautifully done. Both machining and video production. You set a very high bar for the rest of you tube machinists. By the way, Is that how the bearings on your clock will be made? Along the way you mentioned that a 90 degree spotting drill would be better. I see 2 reasons for that. 1 - the angle is steeper and thus retains the rotor better; 2 - the regular twist drill will leave more of a flat at the bottom so the rotor can wander around a bit. But I'm not sure if that really makes much difference. I guess I need to get busy and make me one of these and experiment! Regards, Paul in California

Hi Chris, my son Adam (8 years old) loves your videos and looks forward to every new video you post. He asked me to tell you that he also loves your accent:-) Also, he suggested that in the future he would like to see you make a robot (or at least a model of a robot). And, he's happy for you to come up with your own design for it:-) So now you have two new fans here in the UK - myself and my son Adam:-) Keep the vids coming!
