A 'Micro vs Macro' framework of musical detail - 'Bones' Track Breakdown
Added 2023-06-26 17:24:37 +0000 UTCIn this extensive and academic-leaning session held on 21st June I went into detail on a framework for understanding musical structure, technique and detail.
Through an analysis and aggregation of certain manipulations of sound as 'micro' scale and 'macro' scale transformation, I believe you can rationalize the use of common music production techniques such as negative space, space, distortion, compression, layering etc.
To illustrate I go through the broad strokes (and some finer ones) of how my unreleased tune 'Bones' came together and how it really respects the framework I am trying to push forward to you. It is meant to be a mental exercise to be done retrospectively or from an analytical perspective. I hope you find it interesting and engaging or even helpful to your creative thinking and process!
