Old upload but this convo at the end was just too interesting. 1) "Murderous intent" is a skill that Jin-woo had even before he entered the dungeon, as well as dash, the ability to fully recover, and the dagger he was using. "Murderous Intent" applies a debuff to the enemy which could theoretically bring a stronger opponent down to Jin-woo's power level. The "Bloodlust" on the other hand is just a passive aura that the B-Rank hunter association guy was giving off without really trying to. Just the fact that he wanted to kill was enough to send off the aura. This is what the System picks up on and why it eventually commanded Jin-woo to complete a quest by killing the B-Rank guy. 2) B-Rank and A-Rank brackets are not right next to each other. That is to say, the highest B-Rank hunter is probably not right below the worst A-Rank hunter in power. This would explain why you can't normally jump ranks because even the best B-Rank would get curb stomped by the worst A-Rank. This also explains why Jin-woo was able to beat a high tier B-Rank opponent but still feel threatened by an A-Rank hunter. He may have jumped to the top of B-Rank but there's a power gap he has to overcome before he can actually break through the bottom of A-Rank. The same is probably true for going from A to S-Rank since there are only 7 S-Rank hunters in the country according to current info from the show. 3) I believe Jin-woo was already better than the B-Rank guy even before they entered the dungeon because he didn't actually use anything new to beat the guy. Every technique he used was something he had access to even before entering the raid. The key difference was the System giving him an ultimatum and forcing his hand. In the first half of the fight, Jin-woo doesn't want to just kill the guy despite everything he's seen with Kim being savaged. That's why he's getting slightly overpowered and caught off guard. Not only is he fighting the B-Rank but he's fighting his own morals. The blue flame we see getting snuffed out is Jin-woo losing his sense of self because the System keeps forcing him to kill people which is not his preferred course of action. He pulled out the "Murderous Intent" after the System told him to kill the guy but he always could have used that skill from the start. He just didn't want to go monkey mode on the guy yet because he's not a cold killer by nature. Once the System forced his hand, he didn't need to learn a new skill or something, he just went from 80% to 100% effort and smoked the guy without even really trying. But it cost him a bit of moral clarity.
