Total practice time: Rest of your drumming career ;)
1. ( minutes) - Let's start with the single bass drum technique. Ensure your lower and upper leg form at least a 90-degree angle. Keep your toes at an appropriate distance from the chain, not too far. Notice how my foot always stays in contact with the pedal and my heel remains off the ground.
Kick in your bass drum and if you notice that you are coming off your pedal, you are lifting your foot too much, then try to exert more force forward. If you notice that your foot slides forward too much, try to exert more force downwards.
2. (3 minutes) - Now, let's move on to the double bass technique. Notice how I slightly pull my foot back on the first kick and use my toes to play. For the second kick, my foot slides forward a bit, employing the entire front part.
Remember to keep your heel slightly off the ground while keeping your ankle and foot relaxed. The goal is to utilize forward energy and get two kicks with one movement. Aim for effortless playing.
3. - Moving on to the triple bass drum technique, start the same way as the double bass technique. However, with the last kick, slide a little further forward to extend the forward force. Remember to lift your heel slightly off the ground, utilizing the front of your foot.
4. - Now, let's put all these techniques into action with three grooves. First, observe how I play them, then grab the PDF and practice them slowly. It's crucial to focus on proper technique, as it will benefit your drumming skills in the long run.
Have fun and keep practicing this! You will get better and faster over time. Feel free to reach out if you've got any questions!
