I'm using my sketchbook again in the way I used to in college; it's more like a diary/place to put down project ideas and personal thoughts, instead of just a place to make pretty images.
I think I go back and forth over what I want my sketchbook to be, but what feels good to me right now could be described as ugly and filled with thoughts. I did this a little while on my trip to portland last year and I look back on those pages really fondly, so it's funny how I tend to stray away from that style of sketchbooking. I wonder why? Maybe it's just an ebb and flow thing.
Like I stated in my last podcast from about a week ago, I wanted to show you some of my thought process as I work on my own book. I feel really unsure if I'm onto something...in fact, I feel at like a 50% confidence level with it. I love the idea, but I'm feeling unsure if it's too self-indulgent. It's an idea I love, but would anybody else love it? Especially publishers, when in the acquisition process--I keep asking "is this a shit idea?", hahaha. I can't help it. I do not feel like I'm onto something here, but I don't know if I ever will. So I'll just power through.
You might have seen from my instagram, but I just got back from a trip in northern Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan. I'm going to save the UP talk for a future video/podcast in the end of this month but what I can say for now is that I have 49 mosquito bites and a wisconsin speeding ticket <3 and I had a very fun time.
