June Secret Sketches ...a Lot of Boys

Something was afflicting me last month. Something kind of...sinister. Something kind of wonderful. 

Maybe it's the feeling of being done with another massive graphic novel project, being free to draw for fun and not feeling exhausted from it at the end of the day: I just want to be completely self-indulgent. I'm certainly still illustrating for work, but it's in a style completely different from the fan art drawings I do in my spare time. So when it comes to warm-ups for work, or drawing in the evenings after work, I will be drawing some boys thanks!!

I will be easing you into things today, I promise I won't bombard you right off the bat with my drawings of men who exist only in block form (but they become real in my mind). We'll start with work-related things.

Images 1-2: Illustrations I'm working on for a book about pine processionary caterpillars and two scientists who studied them! I'm really enjoying working with the one-color restriction because it challenges me to think more creatively. 

Image 3: Crop of a book jacket I've sketched and will be finishing in the next month. Whenever I work on a book cover I like to read the manuscript they've given me so that working on the art feels like doing fan art--and it works every time! I've been listening to the Over The Garden Wall soundtrack to try to channel October in June. 

Images 4-5: A couple pages from King Cheer, since I just finished it up! I'm still waiting on feedback for finals (some small tweaks will likely have to be made, but nothing major...hopefully).

Images 6-9: ......Guys I am begging you, I am down on my knees kissing your shoes and sobbing asking you please play minecraft story mode. Like get into it!! There is a total of like 40 people who have played this game and I know it seems SILLY but I could write a dissertation on it. My roommates and I got really into it in early 2020, and every few months or so we have a full-on category 7 Minecraft Story Mode meltdown. So if you do not recognize any of these characters, that is why. These are all from the meltdown I'm currently having as we replayed the two games just recently. I can't even explain myself. It's bad. My roommates and I have multiple documents of AUs going that we spend hours on. We are so deep in the paint with this. If you see any of these drawings and think they are sexy hey maybe that's a sign you should consider playing (or watching a playthrough of) MCSM.
