I got all the character sketches approved, the final manuscript in hand, and the green light to go!!
It's only the very beginning of sketching out book two, but I've read through the manuscript a few times and feel myself vibrating when I think of illustrating *certain parts* of this story. Molly and Stephanie upped their game for this book! I was worried I would feel separation anxiety from the characters of Twelfth Grade Night (and although I do miss Vi, Olivia, Orsino, Sebastian and friends...), I feel myself growing a whole new kind of attachment to the new cast. And there are definitely a couple returning characters and cameos from the Twelfth Grade Night crew, so they aren't gone entirely. After all, they do all attend the same magical high school.
I'll save a longer post, perhaps a podcast, to explain a little bit more about the plot, how I'm feeling going back into such a big workload, what the process of starting my second ever graphic novel project feels like, etc. But I thought for now I would quickly stop in, give you a peek into a selection the first few pages hot off the procreate-sketch-press. King Leer, the base story for King Cheer, was one that I wasn't familiar with at all, but now I'm deep in it. It's a tragedy (everybody fucking dies), and oh boy is this a creative dramatic YA graphic novel rendition. I can't wait to share more, but for now I'm off to relax for the rest of my Saturday evening.
