And these are JUICY these ones. I'm so excited to begin to share some full color stuff from Arden High, as well as the now newly announced WOJTEK story I'm illustrating: Brothers In Arms! Now you guys know 3 of the 4 projects I am currently working on (all at once haha! 💀)
Click through the gallery for short descriptions of each image, but I'll elaborate on a few things here.
The first 5 images are snippets (and even one full page) from ARDEN HIGH: Twelfth Grade Night. Sketching took a lot of time, and moreover a lot of brain power--having to come up with original environments, shot directions, layout, etc. Coloring is ...well, taking perhaps even more time than that did, though it is less brain-intensive. I can do it a little more mindlessly than the sketching. I max out at two pages a day (and that's without working on Brothers In Arms or Mushroom Rain or my other small project). But it's all pretty fun for me. Watching these characters come to life with color is seriously incredible. I don't know a whole lot about giving birth, but I think I'm experiencing at least 1/16th of the joy felt after childbirth when a page is fully lined and colored with speech bubbles in place.
You can see I also included a crop of a sketched page that takes place during Twelfth Grade Night dance. I have avoided including any snippets from the dance because this is at the end of the book, and I don't want to give anything away. I'm just hoping you will look at this, not understand what's going on without context, and forget everything before it comes out in 2023. ;-)
The rest of the information you need is basically all spelled out in the little gallery descriptions--not much to elaborate on quite yet!
Talk to you soon, love you xoxox (extra x for good measure)
