"How Much Money Do You Actually Make?"

Alright, big question. Heavy question. And one that people hate to talk about, but in the art industry, it's important that we do absolutely talk about it. And in fact, I have already answered this question! The reason I'm bringing it back up is because I saw the appreciation shown when I shared how much I actually made doing some small local editorial work. I saw that in my comic Q&A post that a couple folks asked about money, and if I could make a living off of comics--I will answer this more in depth SPECIFICALLY about comics in my "Let's talk Comics" post later this month (which, hey...I'm thinking half podcast half written/visual. What do you think?)

Anyways, I know this below info is just a screenshot from a previous post, but I do understand that some people don't necessarily read the newsletters all the way through, and there are new folks who haven't gotten through all the old content yet (totally okay, it's a lot of reading). But this April newsletter included a full transparency breakdown of how much I am making right now:

Obviously, we now know that project number 3 is the Disney-Hyperion graphic novel series called ARDEN HIGH (and has since been announced).

Picture book #2 should be announced soon...I still have to prepare some images to hand off to my agent for that announcement!

If you haven't read the aforementioned April newsletter and want to learn some more about the cash money, I urge you to. Or at least just the "business" section. Because there are some terms I cover previous to me talking numbers that might clarify some things for you.

I can't wait to answer your questions about comics--I went through all of them over a cup of coffee just now, wrote them down in a separate document to print, and I'm already so excited to discuss some of the points you brought up. You are the best inquirer.
