March Video! Filling a Sketchbook Spread + Rambling

Welcome to another casual video. 50 minutes of drawing, painting, chatting, and occasional silence with some distant music. I personally needed this decompression time, and feel the post-sketchbook calming effects. I hope your weekend is, and will continue to be wonderful. Let's kick back and relax together, for now.

Supplies used are a small Sakura Koi watercolor set, Blackwing pencil, Water brush, Mitsu-Bishi vermillion/prussian blue dual pencil, all in a Leda Art Supply sketchbook (8x10).

Wow, it's rare to hear that someone actually wants to move TO Florida on their own accord! If you want my raw and unfiltered opinion (keep in mind I lived in Melbourne for 20 years basically), it's just not a great place to live. There isn't much to do besides go to the beach and a few token restaurants. If you have kayaks, a boat, or other water gear, sure, the coast of Florida can be fun. But if you are looking for inclusivity and diversity, Melbourne is not the place to go. That's usually where old couples go to retire or die, or at least that's what all us locals said hahaha. Florida really is not a part of the bible belt, especially anywhere south of the pan handle. If anything, when I moved to Greenville from Melbourne, I was going from NOT being in the bible belt to being directly in the heart of it. Can I ask, how did you land on Melbourne?

I know you mentioned you used to live in Florida. I was thinking of moving there and wanted to get your input on what it was like growing up there. I worry about it sometimes, because of how much "bible belt" there is in the south. I was thinking of Melbourne. I want to be in a very inclusive and progressive area. What was your experience like?

I really resonate with the lack of permenance of renting and how it feels like a funky pergatory. Moving to Ohio was a quick decision to get out of a weird living situation even though my heart belongs back on the east coast! I know ill be here for at least another year but after that how are you supposed to know where to go? I want to live out in the PNW or northern california but the natural disasters are scary and the prices are insane. And i'd love to go to VT or NH but without having friends there it's hard! In terms of Asheville one of my friends moved there and she absolutely loves it, I haven't been yet but it seems like a nice spot! I think it's very hard to decide what is a good fit during quarantine because nothing looks or feels how it normally would. Excited to see where you're moving journey takes you next!

Madison, Wisconsin is pretty great! (Winters are long and cold, though.)

as someone who is 28 and currently owns a condo, nothing ever really feels like home. the last time i felt "at home" was my parent's house that they sold after i went to college. maybe one day things will feel more like home when i have enough money to buy 'real furniture' you know? you're definitely not alone :)

You should check out Burlington, Vermont. I moved from Florida to Vermont years ago and was pleasantly surprised. More farmers markets per capita than any other state, progressive views (especially near Burlington), love love love their local VT artists/products/companies, and they're all about outdoor activities. I know it's quite a trek from SC, but it's worth a trip...even if it's just for a week.

I have been going through almost the same process with not climbing, watching competitions, and dying to get back at it. super excited for your new gym to open up, it sounds incredible :)

This was exactly the calming content I was looking for. It's nice to just hear someone talk and doodle what they're feeling in the moment. Thank you!

I watched this while enjoing my chai tea and embroidering some leaves and this was supercozy to spend the evening with, and extra enjoyable! It felt like a calming retreat together! :') You made me wanna try climbing, and also I was looking at the sage youswim too and the Jamie trademark will surely help me in making a decision, hehe I hope your assignments aren't too much to handle, and that you'll be able to take some breaks and refresh! Have a great weekend!
