February Sketchbook Tour (2018 edition!)

This month's step-by-step video is being replaced by this rambly, personal, candid tour of a sketchbook from the spring/summer of 2018. You guys voted and chose this sketchbook (perhaps because of the mention of falling in love 👀).  I think it's a good fit for February. I hope you don't mind that this is the most scatterbrained, rambling video I think I have done yet. I am speaking aloud the thoughts that I have in live-time without censoring anything! Nothing fancy, nothing edited out, just real recollections.

At this time in my life I was a sophomore in college at Ringling going into the summer where I began to discover my love for adventure and the outdoors. I became a teaching assistant at the precollege program at the school that summer, as well as traveled up to Georgia for a week of hiking and exploring. It was also this time that I began to fall in love--though it was not easy. It was rocky, a little messy, confusing, but incredibly interesting. I hope you enjoy. I'd love to do another one of these soon!

Brand of sketchbook is handbook, most media is posca acrylic markers, micron pens, faber castell markers, copic markers, gouache, oil paint, acrylic paint and muji pens.

This was such a fun watch. Little time capsules. I had a question- do you find that you use your sketchbook less since you’ve been doing more illustrations in procreate? I struggle to keep up the practice of using both, but watching this made me yearn for the ol’ sketchbook.

I think this is right around when I found your work! I remember being so enamored by your sketch pages (and still am!!)

Thank you for this amazing tour. It was nice to see an impromptu look at your sketches through the season. Honestly felt so many emotions through this and it made me feel closer to you and your art. <3 You're super inspiring and I can't wait to see more of your journey!

Mariah B (Icky)

It's so cool to see how your art has evolved (and also stayed the same). I really enjoyed this change of pace and second Gabriela's comment - this 40 minutes of escape is exactly what I needed today. Your content is always so warm and kind and hits the spot every time.

Tina B

This is exactly the kind of comment that confirms that what I'm doing is right! If you can relate or see yourself in this content, then I'm happy to say I've succeeded <3 Sounds like life has a lot in store for you.

Handbooks are so superior! I haven't found anything quite like it <3

All your paintings around Ringling and Sarasota are giving me intense sense memories. that's how you know you nailed the "vibes"

I love Handbooks they are so good for a variety of media and the feel of the covers and tooth of the paper is perfect for me
