I won an RCQ with Izzet Phoenix!
Added 2024-04-21 00:44:46 +0000 UTCI won the first RCQ of Pioneer season!
I don’t play much Pioneer and am not an expert on this format or this deck. I copied a recent MTGO trophy list and read this article from Javier Dominguez:
https://article.hareruyamtg.com/article/77415/?lang=en
I wish I could fully break this down in a way that is more helpful, but this was pure netdeckery on zero recent reps (though I have played Phoenix in previous versions and back when it was in Modern)
This was my list:

Here’s the guide I made for myself, based off Javier’s and adjusted for differences in the lists and the existence of Rakdos Vamps.
Good luck out there gamers. See you in DC!

2024-04-29 01:30:00 +0000 UTCEvery winning list I saw online had the 1 Torch split, it was bad all day and I wished it was Impulse. Like I said in the post, I copied Javier’s plans on zero reps of my own. On paper Anger seems to kill every creature in their deck, but I haven’t played the matchup. Some of their stuff gets bigger and you have spot removal for that, looks like it’s just part of the overall package.

2024-04-21 03:59:42 +0000 UTCI understand most of the deck list choices, but what made you decide to run 2 impulses and 1 torch? But I don’t understand your sideboard choice for izzet ensoul at all, anger is very bad against that deck.
