Week 4 progress update
Added 2022-12-02 18:05:43 +0000 UTCI started on Monday writing the script for the train-tunnel paradox video. As I mentioned in earlier posts, this is my short-term objective. I decided to spend time on this, as I believe that having the script can be very useful for planning the work required to complete the video. In truth, I wrote half of the script. I hope to finish the script next week.
I also spent some time improving the light model used in my game engine and learning about physical based rendering. For now I just implemented a standard Blinn-Phong. See some experiments in the video attached to this post. BTW, I found LearnOpenGL a great resource of information.
I also wrote a Latex document with the Classical solution of the analytical positioning problem I mentioned in the “Week 2 progress update”. Let me try to state the problem quickly: a point-like particle with fixed rest-mass has known positions and velocities at times t0 and t1. Find the simplest piece-wise hyperbolic motion (or parabolic for the Classical case) that matches the known positions and velocities at time t0 and t1. I need now to solve the SR formulation of the same problem. I will then share the solution at relativisticgame.net.
Not much else to say for this week. I was distracted quite a bit setting up new equipment that I received and I spent some time ordering more.
