MORE HK body armor with ironic surprise

The engineers asked me to leave this video unlisted for a week so they can buy materials in bulk.  May as well share with you too.

The engineers made their own fiberglass plates and realized what they made was similar to PCB's from China.    So they wanted us to test those too.

You should let them in on the secret of multiple layers of ceramic tile, duck tape and maybe some padding. Multiple shots could be a problem but they work well against singles.

It’s not bullet tumble. More a case of a deformed & slowed bullet having to start penetrating again. Alternating the circuit board with glass fabric would allow that and contain spall. Whether it would actually stop 9mm I don’t know, but it would be worth a try.

I have a really poor record for follow through. But I'm considering making my own test panel from scratch. If I actually go through with it, the components will be sourced from some place one might not expect to look. https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=6689

Also, on another YT channel someone shot a rifle at stacks of circular saw blades. They found that blades spaced 1/8” apart stopped the bullet significantly better than plates compressed together.

Chobham armor used on tanks depends on layers of different materials to gradually disperse the energy of the projectile or blast. If you still have enough to play with, I’d suggest the thick fiberglass followed by the soft stuff slathered with FlexSeal, OR a piece of ABS truck bet liner, followed by thin fiberglass. I doubt it would stop the AK round, but I think it would work on 9mm.

Thats so cool that the silicon was so tough.

The Chinese have MP5's, the muzzle velocity from the 9mm barrel is about the same.

Keep up the good work Jeff, Danny , and OG.

Considering Google's relationship with China, it might be a good idea not to release too much information about your experiments.

This stuff makes me proud to be a part of your patreon, Jeff.

Wouldn't both the 9 mm and 38 from a service length barrels be a more accurate real-world representation?

Dr. Strangelove

If you used the thin panels to back up creepydude's discount body armour, it would probably stand up pretty well for the weight

I like how Danny avoids shooting bees

Alas, I expect mainland China already saw this. Also, I expect they are using 5.45x39 which may penetrate armor better. All is not lost though. I need to do a bit of research. But maybe carbon fiber will do better? I have some swatches for making boats. Some are carbon fiber. Some are a mix of carbon fiber and kevlar fiber. If there is any interest at all, I'll see if I can dig that up. Sadly, I do not have the facilities for 3D weaving of the fibers. I only have the ability to get the fabrics that could be laminated together. That is suboptimal compared to having spools of the fibers for a 3D weave pattern to potentially get up to level IV.
