Goodie Give-aways - Your thoughts

Patrick from The Firearms Rack got an email from Patreon saying he can't have give-aways-  at least the way he was doing it.    I haven't gotten any emails myself from Patreon.    He said his account was suspended until he removed the raffle/giveaways.

I know you folks don't support this channel just for the give-aways we do.  The stuff we have given away mostly have sentimental value more than monetary value and I always opened it to every contributor no matter what amount you donate,  where you live,  etc.

I am supposed to be getting all the projectiles I sent to Othais from C&Rsenal back which were photographed for the poster and wanted to give those away to Patreon supporters.

I need to figure out how to proceed and make sure I don't violate any terms.  Maybe just open it for everyone??

Your suggestions are welcomed!

I think that as long as it is not included as a reward, or advertised in posts, you're good to go just announcing it in a video or messaging someone.

By the way, I would like to add that I give you a dollar a month, not for giveaways (God knows I have enough crap gathering dust on my shelves), I do it because I find your videos very entertaining and even informative. I was raised as a hunter and fisherman. To me those are the only real sports. I couldn't tell you how many touchdowns it takes to win a basketball game, or why high-sticking is illegal in a relay race, but I can tell you that identical loads from different manufactures will produce consistently different results from the same weapon. I have always been interested in how different objects/materials would perform if fired from a gun, but have never been brave enough to experiment in that area due to the requirement of setting off a small explosion inside a metal tube a couple of inches from my nose. But I love watching Danny and OG do it in your videos. I love seeing the slow motion footage, and best of all, the incredibly imaginative things you folks try as projectiles. Some really crazy things you put in your boomunition. You have a great show with fun content (you also seem to be one of the VERY few channels that doesn't feel obligated to bash President Trump or mention global warming at every opportunity. Thank you for that, as well. Sorry I got so long-winded.

The way the letter is worded, it looks to me like it was the raffles that were the problem. I get the feeling that patrons were having to buy raffle tickets independent of their donations. In other words, the raffles were only for patrons (meaning their donations made them eligible to buy raffle tickets), but they still had to pay for each raffle ticket (meaning their donation was separate and independent of the raffle tickets). As long as you don't require extra donations for any of your giveaways you should be fine.

Most of are not here for the giveaways — we just think you all do cool stuff and deserve a buck a month from ALL of your subscribers!

RE.. giveaways... The key info in the message from Patreon to The RifleRack is that TFM giveaways are NOT related to membership tiers etc. I give $2...others may give $5...most give $1...but we ALL get the same chance to get a free bit of TFM cool oddities. Oh...I Meant "Firearm Rack"...this time...not my arthritic hands..my arthritic BRAIN...HAHAHA

From the "patrons should not have to pay to enter" line, as long as it is available to any patron for any level with no one time charges, then you should be fine.

things are, who knows. Return keys, don't ya hate'm?

Agree with Dr. Strangelove. You're not giving rewards for contributing at a certain level or amount. Most / all are items that have been used and only have sentimental / "Gee Wiz" factor and or value. Of course with the way

JSOG

Just do it, and if you have a problem with Patreon, explain that, like you said, these are not monetary gifts, but sentimental.
