There might be a light at the end of the tunnel

Thank you everyone who has responded to the call.   We broke the $1000 barrier and this has given me a lot of hope.    I love creating videos and retired after working  35 years for other people.  Most of the bosses I worked for were jerks who were better at inspiring workers to do as well as the least-productive worker in the team- than inspiring workers to exceed.   I worked graveyard shift for years and that takes a toll on you.   My dream was to work for myself,  sleep at night,  and express my creativity.   It has taken me over 10 years to build up my channel on YouTube and it looked like a promising way to make a living while technically retired from the work force.

Places I worked by chronological order.

Taco Bell  (16 years old)

Del Taco (who doesn't like tacos?)

Refrigeration/HVAC - service tech/installer

Winery -maintenance tech

Snack Foods - maintenance tech/electrician/fabricator/utilities

Protective Packaging - maintenance tech/electrician/fabricator

Ethanol -  maintenance tech (worst job in my life)

Creamery - maintenance tech/boiler/refrigeration/utilities

Can you describe what it was like working at the Winery? What kinds of equipment did you do maintenance on?

I didn't last there long enough to get sick of it. lol

thank you Nils!

I love your videos! Keep it up! I support you and a board called Screamandfly.com - you are the only two in the USA... Keep up the good work! //Greetings from Sweden

I too started work at Taco Bell. To this day, 29 years later, I still can't eat their stuff.

I just never wanted to be "famous" -recognized when I am out and about and get a big-head. I am content working behind the scenes - which is a lot of work - lol

Thank you for being a humble ,enjoyable viewing expeience

My original goal was just $25 so people could donate a buck and we could spread out the cost of expensive stuff like camera lenses, chronies, etc. over a lot of people and we could slowly improve the channel. I appreciate your support.

TAOFLEDERMAUS

Thanks! Yeah, we try not to be too-full of ourselves. Don't act all uppity, etc.

What's funny is Youtube has been running ads for ad block programs. (funny/ironic) It's like opening a restaurant, then renting space in the restaurant for someone giving away free food. thanks for helping out!

The technology was pretty cool. The most important thing I learned was ethanol was a scam! The gov't subsidizes about half the price of it, about $1 per gallon. So it is something we pay for many times over. It consumes a LOT or corn that could be used for food (human or for cattle) so it drives up the cost of corn products. Ethanol is very hygroscopic and absorbs water like a sponge which is terrible for fuel system - so getting your car repaired from damage is another cost. Fuel economy with ethanol fuel is less, so you pay more to go fewer miles. What made the job terrible is the company did ZERO background checks on the employees. It seemed most of the employees were ex-cons. Theft was terrible. You'd go to lunch and if you left a welder sitting out, or tools, they would be stolen when you got back. It isn't like it was a big company, there'd only be about 10 guys there each shift.

thanks Alllen!

I wonder what Youtube hope to gain from this approach in the long run. I mean I can understand why they are against hosting offensive or very violent/gory videos. The way they are doing things now makes no sense tho and it must hurt them a lot financially (just my guess). For example : A word like "Viking" in a title is a big no no. As a Dane, I am offended by that :-D That said I am very happy to see so many new Taofleder-folks supporting the channel here. When I joined four months ago, it was just under 500$ per month. Double up+ in four months is amazing. Indeed a light at the end of the tunnel :-) Cheers!

Your channel is unique . You dont boast and brag like the others do. You have fun and you also listen to what we as subscribers ask and suggest. I follow tha channel religiously and best always is the shotgun shooting. Thanks also go to guest shooters giving up tome to help with your channel and adding to a viewing experience. You got viewers world wide that enjoy what you do (im proud South African). Hope the channel will support what you need and hope the Patreon grows to the lengths you need to live your humble lifestyle without being in a unappreceated job.

I've started using adblock anyway across youtube so it seems fair to support the channels I enjoy watching.

Working for Taco Bell/Del Taco hints at your fascination with heating dangerous chemicals. ;-)

LOL, I had no idea you were making so little per vid and signed up to pledge yesterday. If you start singing the you make it we shoot it song at the beginning of all those vids I will double my pledge.

John Libal

Definitely need to blast some Taco Bell/Del Taco food in a future video

Andrew

haha congrats! nice post, its cool to know some history behind the mystery man ;) Why was the ethanol job so terrible, didn't you at least get free booze out of the deal? :p

TheBackyardScientist

I'm retired and understand exactly of what you speak. I hope you make the grade and able to enjoy your hobby. Keep up the great work/videos in 2018. I and many others will be watching!
