Ooohhh good catch! Like the whole Dale is Cal thing would be a giant foreshadow! We know Xeno mastered chaos (celestial and infernal) and Joe started with light and dark affinities. Hmm in the first book Tim did tell Joe that if he completes the game there's a chance he could get out too.

(A bald ritualist, without peer, obsessed with increasing himself despite the cost to everyone else, crotch-thrusting his way around in robes) I'm sure the timeline could be changed eventually, maybe by some sort of grand ritual
