Importance of Gender Selection in Games

This feedback will likely influence future games I create, rather than Sanctuary in Time. But I'm curious to know how important you consider having gender selection options for your character in a game. In particular, if we're talking about an immersive, text-based experience w/ a 2nd-person perspective (e.g. "You do this" and "You do that").
