The ancient tradition of Yule, in which we mark the passing of the Winter Solstice and witness the rebirth of a new year, is one that far predates the Christian adoption of it. Yet, no matter which tradition came first or what the origins of their various facets may be, to me, it's all been melded into one great, big appreciation for the enduring spirit of life and generosity toward our fellows.
So, look to your left, look to your right, and perhaps most importantly, look within, and show warmth and generosity to all you find. For these are the fellow travelers on our way, and if not for them, the winter in all its bluster, just might hold sway.
I thank each and every one of you for the generosity you've shown me this past year. In whatever shape or form it might have taken, I thank you. And I wish all good blessings unto you as well.
