Hello, one and all!
Now that the Steam release for Sanctuary in Time is out in the wild (and doing quite well so far), I've been turning my attention to a content update for release in January. I'm quite excited about this one, and the creative juices are flowing! Also, I think fans of "family" content will be quite pleased when they see the results. I won't reveal too much just yet because I do like to keep things a surprise, but I will say this, "A mother's work is never done!"
In related news, I've also been getting more serious about starting work on my next game. I still plan to continue releasing content for Sanctuary in Time, but the size of those updates may get a bit smaller as I shift some of my time and attention over to what comes next. And part of that process is figuring out how to "step up my game" for this next project.
Sanctuary in Time is my first released game and it's also been an enormous learning experience for me. So, I'm hoping to take some of that experience and use it to make a more professional-looking and professional-performing game. I think a significant part of that process will be learning to use more professional tools (like an actual game engine) instead of doggedly insisting on building most things from the ground up myself.
Sanctuary in Time is a largely DIY, hand-built application, and because of that, it has its limitations. But I'm now diving into the toolset of the Ren'Py game engine (a Python game engine designed specifically for visual novels & other text-heavy games) to see what I can do with that. So, I'm very excited to see what kind of possibilities open up as I learn more.
Welp, that's what's happening in my life at the moment (plus, prepping for Yule / Christmas time). What about you guys? Any exciting plans for the holidays? Maybe you have some ideas for "family" related content that you'd like to see implemented for Sanctuary in Time? Let me know in the comments below. And, remember...
Above all else, have fun!
