Love Is in the Air
Added 2023-02-14 12:36:56 +0000 UTCGreetings, one and all!
It's February 14th, also known as Saint Valentine's Day! A time long celebrated (possibly since Ancient Rome) for reasons no one can quite agree on.
It might have something to do with Lupercalia, an ancient Roman festival celebrating Pan and Juno, the pagan gods of love, marriage, and fertility. Or, it might have something to do with the various saints named Valentine (there's at least three of them) who were either born, buried, or died on the date in question.
It might originate with purification rites, the mating season of birds on the old Julian calendar, the restoring of sight to one's enemies, or even the performance of marriage rites for soldiers in secret. But, no matter how Valentine's Day got started, there's no denying that in the here and now (at least since Chaucer's poem, Parliament of Fowls, in 1382), it's a day set aside for celebrating love.
So, on this day, I wish all of you the love you need the most. Whether that be love for yourself, love for (or from) others, or love for what you do in life. And if you don't have as much love as you would like, then I suggest you create it.
And speaking of love and creation, I think it's also an appropriate time to let you know that love is coming to Sanctuary in Time! Yes, that's right. I'm adding a new layer to the lives of yourself and your followers that includes the romantic. Among other changes I've been working on this month, I'm also introducing a new stat for your followers that will track their romantic attachment to you, above and beyond their normal devotion.
I won't go into too many details just yet, as it's still early in the development process, but pretty soon love (and infatuation) will be in the air at the Citadel. So, with that in mind, tell me, what would you (yes, you specifically) like to see in Sanctuary in Time when it comes to love, infatuation, and romance? You never know, if your ideas are good enough, they just might make it into the game!
Let me know in the comments below.
Oh, and happy Valentine's Day!
