What I'm Playing

As promised, here's the deets on the bleeps and bloops of what I've been playing during the Thanksgiving holiday.
It's Saints Row, baby! Bigger and badder than ever, and back for another whack at the burgeoning underbelly of the comedic, criminal underworld!
I know what you're thinking: "Hey, didn't that game get surly reviews when it first came out?" And the answer is: "Yep. Can't deny it." So even though I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Saints Row fanboy, I did not pick this one up at launch. The reviews scared me off too. But I've been keeping my eyes open for updates, and watching for sales, and lo and behold, both hit at the same time. Not only did Volition release a whopping patch with over 200 updates & fixes, but I also found a retailer with new copies of the game discounted by almost 50%. So, I knew it was time to give the Row another rumble.
And I gotta say, so far, I'm impressed! I can't speak on how the game played or performed prior to the patching, but with the updates in place, I'm having an absolute blast. It definitely feels like the old Saints Row magic is back.
I may not be a huge fan of the main narrative and characters so far (I'm less than 10 hours in), but the mission design, combat, customization options, and open-world mayhem feel absolutely top-notch.
It seems like there's a ton of content on the table (which is appropriate for Thanksgiving), and I've only begun to sample its various delights, but I've already felt myself craving extra helpings when I'm gone from the Row for too long. And to me, that's the definite sign of a good game.
So, what have you all been playing? And has Saints Row been included in your rotation (pre or post patch), and if so, what do you think about it?
