For the part about Aten and Joe sorting out the new contract, Joe says "We are going to have to get a lot in writing". It doesn't sound like they discussed much of exactly what was going to be a lot in writing? It goes straight to the scribe showing up, who then finishes it in a few minutes.

I thought that was what Guess was doing, though she doesn’t have a mic, which explains her drone voice. Also I thought his name was Tim? That’s how he’s referred to at the start of book 1.
