It was already established in Dungeon Madness that the dark elf guards were all in the mage ranks. They wouldn't be much use otherwise.

2017-11-08 18:55:59 +0000 UTCThe way I read it, becoming a mage is essentially trying to understand lovecraftian beings. Reaching S rank happens when you successfully understand a lovecraftian being. And mana is the byproduct of feeding the portion of yourself that has attuned itself to/become a part of said lovecraftian being.

2017-11-08 15:49:46 +0000 UTCNah, it was already stated in the first book, fairly early in the beginning when Dani got the seed, that the Silverwood Tree helps people breaking into the B-ranking. We now know what it means. I think the Silverwood tree is at least spiritual ranking, for it to being able to influence Cals trail and its also not crushed by Cals mana now.

How will Cal maintain his dungeon if his aura is lethal to anything below his cultivation level? How is Cal supposed to progress farther than "The highest level or degree attainable, the peak of perfection."? What exactly is manna and why do the mage ranks sound so much like dealing with Lovecraftian beings? Curse you, you master of the evil cliffhangers!

2017-11-06 20:17:57 +0000 UTCNow that Cal's perfect Aura is lethal for even Beasts (as they would be closest to his final room - poor Snowball! Don't tell Dani), would Dani have changed as well? Becomes she heavy and unmovable and a pain for the Master to carry around? She is tightly bonded with Cal and still receives Essence from him, doesnt she?
