2017-09-19 13:02:59 +0000 UTCHow about a dark corridor with a frictionless floor and water pouring in from above. The water starts out freezing and moves towards boiling. There is no light in the corridor and hidden in the water fal are bars or concentrated high pressure water, acting like laser cutters, and changing positions on a timer. Without light it would be almost impossible to see them, plus any light potion would be washed away. Add to that, even if you realised the water saws were there, and you worked out their rotation pattern, you would still risk slipping on the floor as you tried to avoid the either too cold, too hot, or pressurised water. It would be possible to get through it but definitely not easy. If you made it essential to pass through it to get to a boss, and littered the odd pressure trap that activated a lighting bolt to electrify the wet floor, you could have a very fun obstacle course. I know this does not really relate to this chapter but all the talk of tunnelling down to the magma mantle reminded me of how fracking is done with pressurised water which in turn reminded me of Cal's interest in Madams water technique in the dungeon battle of the Wailing War.

2017-09-16 23:47:21 +0000 UTCYeah, that is what I am thinking. It would be neat if in future books this is referenced in some way, other than the obvious searching for the wisp Dani. Just some tavern owner hiring some adventures to clear out the basement of the spiders.

2017-09-15 20:49:02 +0000 UTCPersonally, I am worried about the sheer suitability of the new bugs. If Cal really made it so they can thrive in all environments, I can't help but think that they will eradicate their normal counterparts and take over the world. It will be like Japanese beetles in north america just, you know, with flying venomous spiders the size of cockerspaniels. No way that can go wrong.

2017-09-14 14:20:03 +0000 UTCI worry about the impact the new insect will have. If it doesn't seek to harm humans, then what does it eat, if anything? I can imagine and laugh at the spiders taking residence in homes on the mountain and people noping the fuck out of there. Regardless, it seems like the environment now has fucking big ass spiders to contend with.
