I’ve begun to realize that the “kids these days”/“just to be cool” arguments—whether they’re about faith, human rights, or any other issues that involve a dismantlement of power—nearly always boil down to “We used to be able to silence you by literally threatening your life, but now we’re forced to come up with a legitimate justification . . . and we’re scared of that.”

It's impossible to have a rational discussion with someone whose beliefs have nothing to do with reason. For the first time ever, Christianity is on the defensive, and most believers don't know what to say or do about it.
