What I’m Still Deconstructing 5 Years Later

This is video 1 of 2 this month. While I knew some would appreciate this video, I was surprised by how positive the response has been. Thank you for the love on this one, everyone. I needed it. ❤️

What I’m Still Deconstructing 5 Years Later

Comments

I’ve just turned 45 and haven’t been a “participating Christian” since I was 19. However, I’ve only started calling myself an atheist over the last 1.5 years. That term still felt “bad” to me, even just a few years ago. Richard Dawkins was a scary person, lol:) The path of deconstruction can be a long and winding one. I get so encouraged when I watch your videos and I know you have a brilliant future. I completely understand your interest in religious studies. I spend A LOT of time every day listening to channels like Religion for Breakfast, Let’s Talk Religion and Esoterica and lectures by Dr Richard Carrier. I think it’s jarring for people in my life who don’t understand how I can be interested academically, but not hold a religious belief system or any desire to believe there’s a god. But I am, and I totally get why you are:) Keep up your studies and perhaps we can look forward to some really interesting religious studies content or a new channel with that theme some day!!

Your striving to be open, honest, and objective in your evaluation of your religious views is what drew me to become one of your patrons. I relate to your rejection of obvious religious indoctrination and your tenuous consideration of alternative views, and I encourage you to continue leading us along your path. I also encourage you, if it is appealing, to pursue religious studies from a secular viewpoint. I find myself doing the same, and I am somewhat surprised and amused by my continuing interest in the topic. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
