The Arguments for God's Existence Tier List

This is a new style of video for me, and I had a ton of fun making it. If it goes over well, I may make it a series! Thanks a ton for your support this month. I couldn't keep doing this full time without you guys! You rock!

Excellent job. And I pretty much agree with your rankings. And I agree that one of the refutations of the fine tuning argument ( what I call the honest argument from admitting ignorance) appears the weakest, mainly, as you say, because the proponents really don’t understand what the physicists are saying. They attempt to use an argument from authority ( hey, physicists- those people that you atheists adore so much, say such and such about the origin of the universe and if you squint and don’t actually read and understand what they are saying, it proves god). Since it’s hard to find a current physicist who would support their flawed understanding of the foundations and implications of modern cosmology, I usually call them on it and flatly state ( usually in a kindly manner) that they are ignorant of what current cosmology says and tell them to go back and actually try to understand it. Since they usually are regurgitating what some preacher has told them and can’t find a reputable source within the field, it’s an effective tool.

This is a fun exercise. I've never consciously "ranked" theistic arguments, though I'm sure on some level I've always recognized a hierarchy or refutability. I think the placement of the anecdotal/personal experience argument is the most interesting. While I obviously see this to be the least informed/educated argument presented, anyone who has participated in ideological debates (religious and otherwise) can acknowledge the strength of conviction with which these kinds are arguments are held. Ideologies invariably are tied into the identity of the ideologue. As an aside, I think this can explain the conflation theists makes when they claim atheism is just another religious belief — since it's an ideology one holds to be true and that in part influences the identity of the atheist, it serves the same function within the framework of personal identity. Of course this is fallacious, but I see a congruence. Anyway, great video. Thanks for making it!
