Leaving Patreon — To SubcribeStar!

If you’ve been here you probably already knew this was coming; I am making a split from Patreon.

There’s a few reasons why, which I’m sure you’ve heard plenty from other artists, but I figure I should take some time to explain why, for me, this is happening.

Why I’m leaving...

1. The Fees

Patreon recently adjusted two things, how much they charge me as the creator and how much they charge you as a pledger. They’re both much higher than they used to be, and I’ve lost several supporters due to this, and I’ve also seen tiers I’ve been pledged to myself have to be removed or upped because the amount of fees Patreon is taking has made the tiers not worth it for artists.

2. The Content Blocks

In part with the more recent updates, Patreon has started punishing artists who share their work outside of Patreon. Since day one, I never wanted my Patreon to be a paywall, I don’t like paywalls, nor do I support them myself... Over the last year or so, I’ve gotten several “violation” emails from Patreon, basically having me hide or remove posts in which I’m sharing my Patreon content publicly. So, for example, I have a pin-up posted to FA, if that’s meant to be “Patreon Exclusive” I have to remove it from one of the two websites...

3. The Layout

Honestly, this is a personal beef, but I do hate Patreon’s set up a lot. It’s clunky, confusing, the messaging system is sub par, I cant customize much, the iOS and Safari website is just... broken. It’s been a hassle visually for a long time and it’s not getting much easier with all of the new things they’re adding and how much they’re changing so often.

So there you have it. I’m not bailing willy nilly and this is something I have thought about for a long while, I am moving to SubScribe Star officially for September. I will upload the rest of August’s Patreon content but starting September 10th I will be removing my creator page entirely, so if there’s anything you’d like to save, go save it now.

“But corgi, what about my billing?”

September’s billing has been paused, those pledged here will not be charged on September 1st, and you will still have access to the content until I begin to remove it on September 10th.

So, in the end, I would very much appreciate it if you, my supporters, would follow me over to SubscribeStar, it’s of course not required, but it is set up exactly how my Patreon is. Same exact tiers, same exact upload schedule, same types of content being uploaded there. I expect to lose out on about $200 of income from pausing my Patreon, so any bit of support is greatly appreciated during the transition.

As a thank you, I will have an all-out-content month for September, similar to the “Christmas in July” event I did, for the month of September, all of my subs on SubscribeStar will have access to ALL content, including Subscriber commissions, high resolutions, etc.

I have even been considering making monthly bases or something for you all over there, maybe telegram sticker templates? I’ve been playing with a few new ideas I think would do well or be interesting. I’ll be updating that soon as well!
