That's for sure. Philly has actually had quite a few notorious mafia families. The mafia still has a presence there today even though it is not what it used to be in the 50s through the 80s. We even had a well known mafia presence in the medium-sized Pennsylvania city that I was born/raised in a few hours from Philly (rather not say the exact name of my city or the mafia family π). The mafia really is an East Coast thing, from I'd say Baltimore all the way through Boston. π In recent decades the Eastern Europeans have also established some mafia-like organizations as well.

Philadelphia has mobsters as well. Actually, I have a coworker who is older now and he was in witness protection after getting out of prison. He was a hitman and was arrested for killing union leader John McCullough. He was only paid five grand. The stories this guy tells at work are insane. heβs even in a National Geographic episode called Philadelphia meth kings
