Because, honestly, if you lose your spot at any point after the intro it is practically impossible to line things up again. blood and cheese was honestly so much worse in the book. in the book aegon throws aemond a feast for what he did to luke and aemond murdered him completely intentionally, and daemon sent blood and cheese directly after aegons children because of the feast and he wanted them to feel exactly how he was feeling. aegon and helaena have another son maelor who was 2 at the time and they intentionally make helaena choose which son will live and which one will die, after pleading for them to take her life intead and them not accepting it, she eventually chooses maelor to be killed as hes not the kings heir and hes younger, but they tell maelor "did you hear that, your mommy wants you dead," before lopping jaehaerys's head off instead and helaena can hardly stand to look at him after this out of shame and grief.

I agree with the second half however Aegon IS a horrible person… He’s a r*pist and watches children brutally fight each other for fun… 😬 While Daemon etc is no saint, it doesn’t take away from Aegon being horrible imo 🤷🏻‍♀️

Shut up. Aegon isn't horrible- the showrunners MADE him a horrible person. TGC has done an amazing job portraying him. The unfortunate thing is that they also have gone the route of classic good vs evil- whereas in the books both the Blacks and the Greens are portrayed as morally grey; Daemon who ordered the hit on Jaehaerys with Mysaria's help and Rhaenyra's blessing is one change for example.

small detail was larys's handmaiden not acting on what she saw. This show is full of domino effects. If Larys hadn't killed the original handmaidens then their would have been guards immedietly and the ratcatchers wouldnt have been able to do what they did.

aegon is a super fun character this season. like, he’s undeniably horrible, but ultimately his driving factor is just a desire to be loved. we didn’t see him getting any parental or familial love after his 2nd birthday. he’s not being kind to the small folk because he cares about them— but the small folk are the first people who cheered for him. he needs them to LIKE him. he resented his father never including him in his affairs, so he brings his son to the small council because he needs his son to have the relationship with his father he longed for. and yet, he’s a complete idiot. in part because he was allowed to do whatever the hell he wanted until his father died. so like, idk why they expected him to succeed as king. that’s also a fascinating aspect of alicent. she’s not a bad person a lot of the time, but she never truly takes time to know her children. team green characters are generally not, like, good? but they make for very interesting character studies. (also better/ more coherent character writing than how they write characters like daemon imo)

Helaena is like Paul Muad'dib before the spice agony(water of life) at the end. She gets the visions/dreams but she has almost no control of them. She gets bits and pieces but cant tell whether its happening in ten minutes or ten years. She's a dragon dreamer, like the one that dreamed the Song of Ice and Fire. It makes them seem a bit crazy because they struggle to ever be sure they're in the real world or whether they're experiencing another dragon dream. So they seem sort of disconnected from reality.
