Q&A: Do You Limit Your Canvas to Print-Compatible Sizes?
Added 2019-11-10 13:08:59 +0000 UTCDo you limit your canvas space to print-compatible sizes or do you sometimes use the power of web publishing to be as small or large as an episode needs? I'm curious since you have published books and are syndicated (online at GoComics). If I may sneak in a second question, have you made other comics than AJ & Magnus?
Best wishes,
Bob
Howdy Bob!
We do create our comics knowing they're going to be printed in book form. Sometimes it's limiting and it's always challenging, but for now it makes more sense to do it this way than to try and reformat comics entirely when it's time to put a book collection together.
AJ & Magnus is our first comic, but before that we worked on a graphic novel called The Red Queen of Oz. We began it in 2012 but only ever got as far as a sketch version of the book finished. We're hoping to get it completed one day, but to do that we need to become more financially stable so we can afford to bring in some outside talent. We think it'll make a good addition to our body of work as it's a family friendly story that deals with mental health and identity issues. One day.

"Red Queen of Oz" deals with mental health and identity issues in a family friendly way? That sounds interesting!! I finally read issue 1 recently - even though I already loved the idea long before thanks to you - and really hope to see it developed further someday by you.
