Q&A: How Much of Your Own Experience Do You Put in Your Comics?
Added 2019-11-08 23:06:55 +0000 UTCMy question is how much of your own experience do you put in your comics? The characters are super relatable in their personality types and the experiences they've had really mirror things that have happened in the lives of my friends and myself. Are the arcs in this series direct parallels to your own lives or do you take a lot of creative liberty for sake of the story?
All the best,
Dave
Hey Dave!
Our comic is a heavily fictionalized version of our lives. There's a lot of us in there, but over the years the characters have definitely become their own unique person. Some of the story arcs were very close to experiences we had, others were changed for the comic to make them more interesting. As for the characters themselves, they were all originally based on real people, but even from the beginning they weren't clones. In a lot of ways they're better than us because that gives us some inspiration to aspire to :) Overall though, we definitely take creative liberty even when telling experiences we really had. It makes for more amusing stories.

It's a fine line between retelling the truth, creating new fictional stories and combining them into one for whatever reason ... very interesting!
