What's the right thing to do?

So, I feel that drag is all about performance and entertainment. A school is not the proper place for that - with the exception of the occasional costume/ halloween/ spirit days that some schools have. Drag queens to not wear drag all the time. This was my big problem with To Wong Foo - the 3 queens stayed in drag the whole movie. Now - Alex being worried about AJ's actions reflecting poorly on him is wrong, but I think there is a valid point in that this is likely to disrupt his class. Now, if AJ is trans - and dressing in 'feminine' clothes is an expression of his gender, then I think that is fine, and they need to support AJ in that. But drag is NOT the same thing.

I'm torn. On one hand, he should dress how he wants. On the other, there is the bullying and if you can protect someone by having them tone down their expression, should you?

Brian

Technically if is not a dress code at AJ's school he is allowed to dress as he wants to. represent himself and his beliefs. in his case it doesn't mean he is even gay so far but wants to defends his parents and thank them for helping him grow up as the great guy he is. so, to my point, AJ is just doing a statement. and I AM SURE he is sure about himself, bullies won't manage to break him down.

Love the new page formatting! Simple changes show so much!

That hat is definitely going to block the view of any students behind him in the classroom. Otherwise, go for it and try to do a full day in heels :D

Considering that John HAS done the cross-dressing/drag thing and Alex hasn't ... this brings some good perspective. On the other hand, going to school as a drag queen might be easier on a Costume Day.

And point goes to Pop on that one.
