Awe getting better :) <3 Yay!! Everyone is learning compassion. That's the #1 in our home :)

Wesley Would If He Could

Our comic only scratches the surface of the stuff we've gone through as a family. We're talking generations of dysfunction. We're just trying to make a better family and to do that we had to start with all of us understanding and committing to a level of family values where we respect each other, communicate with each other, and trust each other. We have to stand up for each other when one of us is mistreated, especially by a fellow family member. It's been a very difficult and tumultuous few years but slowly things got better and we're still working to get to where we want to be. As far as forgiveness, when someone hurts you very badly, a simple apology is just words. To repair the damage there, actions have to be taken and the person has to show they're truly sorry by adjusting their behavior to assure us they're not just going to do the same thing again and continue hurting people. Trust is a good thing, but it's not always an option if someone breaks it but refuses to do what's necessary, that's just a recipe for repeated hurt. Deep down we all do care for each other, but coming from dysfunctional homes, we were never taught how to express that properly. As long as people are willing to change, and show it, forgiveness is an option.

Bryan & Simon

It is incredibly difficult to forgive people who have betrayed your wishes, even if it's someone you love and they had only the best of intentions in mind. It's very sweet and caring that instead of immediately shunning your mum, and/or not speaking to her again you chose to help her understand what she did to disrespect you, your husband and your family along with helping her to understand how to act in the future around you and your family. What you did showed not only that you really care for your mum and the relationship she shares with you and your family but also your strength, not everyone could forgive as you did.
