Commission BKDK Apoc Au: Timelapse

The second timelapse video for this month, this time of a recent commission piece. I had a bit of a tough time with this one at the start, namely because it was a weirdly specific sort of pose to find reference for!
In the end, I cobbled together some useful reference of photos from wrestling matches, but as you can see in the timelapse it still took me a couple of goes to get a pose that felt natural.
This piece was also an interesting challenge for me when it came to creating a background. I wanted something simple but atmospheric, so I knew I was probably going to be going ham with the gaussian blur. I'm a big fan of using gradient maps in conjunction with perspective blurs for creating a little more interest to your otherwise flat or low detailed backgrounds, and that seemed to work a charm here when it came to adding depth to the treeline.
Speaking of backgrounds, I highly recommend working your backgrounds first before your characters if you're struggling to create a cohesive piece - it's much easier to colour pick/match from your background for your characters than it is the other way around!
