MW - Introducing Kiiro

So, a couple weeks ago, I had this character design in my head.  Not this one exactly, but very similar, and I dunno, she just haunted my thoughts while I never really had time to draw her out.  Especially since I didn't have a need for a character like her.  I don't really want to add anyone else to Rain at this point.  I didn't think she fit for Magical or Save the Princess or any other future stories I already have in mind.  So I tried to tell myself, why am I going to draw this new character with nowhere to put her?  Eventually, sometime last week, I finally gave in.

And being totally honest, the transfer from my head to my stylus just wasn't working for me.  I liked this design, but I wasn't attached to this character.  But then, a moment of madness came over me.  After Maya, Midori, and Aoi, there was still one more original character I wanted for Moonlight Wanderers.  And I'd been having a lot of trouble with his design specifically.  He's the only boy of the four -  a distinctly very pretty boy.  Perfect candidate for using what was originally going to be a girl's design.

I'm super happy with this outcome, so let me know what you think too.  ^_^

Anyway, this is Kiiro (have you noticed the pattern yet). ;P  Like the other three, he is originally from Kanto, and is just starting his own Pokemon adventure.  While Maya remains the main focus of the story in Alola, and Aoi is studying abroad in Galar, Midori and Kiiro are off on their own journeys together back home in Kanto.   The four of them all know each other though, with Maya, Midori, and Kiiro being the same age and growing up together, and Aoi, as the older one, often being stuck babysitting or supervising them when they were young.

(Don't worry if this all seems like a lot to keep track of right now; I think it'll be easier to see what I'm doing with this when the comic finally gets going.)  ^_^

As for present day Kiiro, he's a happy guy.  Very sociable and funny.  Maybe not the brightest, but he more than makes up for it with his sunny personality.  Not to mention he's super cute and people are often just drawn to him.  But whereas Maya and Midori want to be the very best, and Aoi wants to learn, Kiiro's journey is more about the journey itself.  He doesn't really have an end goal.  Who can say if he's even looking for one.  He likes Pokemon, to be sure, but he's just not quite as devoted as the other three.

He also has a Tepig as his starter (which I'm sure people argue he should not be able to have in Kanto).  Between him, Midori, and Aoi, the three not-in-Alola characters are going to allow me the opportunity to draw a lot of Pokemon I likely wouldn't otherwise be able to draw in MW.  I can't remember if I've said this before, but a lowkey goal of MW is to maybe draw every single Pokemon at some point.  I may not succeed (I may not come anywhere near succeeding), but it's something I wanna try to work toward nonetheless.  So don't worry too much about him having a Tepig.  It's basically just that I like Tepig, and it gives me an opportunity to include one.  ;P

I haven't named it yet, though.  As MW is a Nuzlocke comic, I named all of Maya's Pokemon while I played the run itself.  But for that extra little touch, I wanted to name every one else's Pokemon too.  For a fun little extra bit of flair, I've been naming them all with themes based on their trainers.

For instance, Maya uses lots of mythological or literary references to name her Pokemon.
Midori will use cute human names.
Aoi uses scientific names.
Hau is bad at naming, and his Pokemon showcase this.
Gladion picks darker, edgier sounding names.
Hala names his after famous historical/legendary fighters/warriors.
Stuff like that.  Every character has a theme for naming their Pokes that fits them.  Gives everyone and their Pokemon just a bit more personality.

I was thinking for Kiiro's case, that I might let Patrons pick his Pokemon's names.  Like, if you had an idea for a name for a Tepig, for example, maybe you'd shout out an idea or two.  If I get enough suggestions, I could put it to a vote, and let his theme be letting you pick the names.  It would certainly go with Kiiro's laid back attitude.  ^_^

This ended up being way longer a post than I expected, but I hope it was a fun read nonetheless.  As always, let me know what you think of the character, the design, or anything else, and I'm eager to hear your thoughts on his Tepig's name too.  Otherwise, take care, and we'll talk more next time.  ^_^
