DK NEWS AFTERSHOW 0720 (10AM KST)

Lets talk about the new audition program Girls Planet 999.

Also about Kim Gura? the comedian who got to keep his job despite a questionable past.

Racism against BTS? Kpop? Korea? Is this the first time, why does this happen?

i knew Kim Gura was problematic but i didn't know he was that toxic, geez. if there was any semblance of truth to what he was saying i'd just say he has no filter but sounds like he was just a troll.

Sounds to me like those, so called, foreign journalists, need to be kimchi slapped ! lol

glob·al | \ ˈglō-bəl \ Definition of GLOBAL: 1a: of, relating to, or involving the entire world : WORLDWIDE. Danny, I'm disappointed that you are defending having 3 countries to be considered valid for "global". Multicultural, yes but even as David stated, it's still excluding SE Asia and other countries where some of the most successful K pop idols come from. That said, yes, they can change the standard. It's not difficult at all. BTS biggest strength is Army...which consist of vast community of multicultural, ethnic fanbase. Example: BTS is #1 on Billboard hot 100 not from K Army, J Army or C Army Diamonds but because of their relationship/connection with US/PR Army. No other countries can get or keep them on Billboard but those two. That said, it's a HUGE mistakes for these companies to keep excluding an entire global, barely tapped market. It's not okay. Don't call it Global if it isn't inclusive. Another example - reason why Victoria Secrets has tanked because Fenty Savage capitalized on what was missing: Diversity and Inclusivity and that's why no other brand can touch them now. Sidenote: Best of luck to you Danny and much happiness!

Latin America racism towards Asians is very normalized. When KARD was in Brazil the TV host mocked their language and pulled their eyes and the audience all laughed. CNCO (famous boy band) went on a radio show and mocked BTS and the Korean language along with the host. What's happening to BTS now is nothing new

Great news about the law for Sasaengs! My friend has had a stalker before and she couldn’t do anything about it because he wasn’t approaching her, he was just sitting outside her apartment and would drive by and smile and look at her, or stand near places he knew she would walk passed to work. But I still saw how much it affected her and had to keep reminding her his behaviour was not ok, even though the police didn’t have enough to act on. So can only imagine how rough the idols have it 😞 did any idols ever get restraining orders for sasaengs?

And I agree with David, if they really wanted to highlight diversity, only having Korean/Japanese/Chinese trainees is really nothing out of the ordinary, it’s actually just the standard rn lol. Including at least southeast Asians would’ve been so interesting and a lil more ‘global’.

I never really trusted survival shows, but especially when there are so many contestants, the producers probably already decided at least the final 20. There’s just not enough time to showcase and give decent screen time to all of them, so there is already preference given there.

Clara

What happened to iland season 2? Wasn’t it supposed to start this summer too?

Clara

I kind of lost interest in all the survival shows, there's way too many and I find it hard to keep up with all the new ones. Maybe it's a sign I'm getting old. As for BTS, I just laugh. Remember that racist German DJ who was offended on behalf of Coldplay that BTS covered their song, and now BTS is collaborating with Coldplay. I'm just sad that BTS has to see all the racism, and they have said they are aware of it.
