And now shortly what have been going on:

Cassandra have been pushing herself away and being really angry and cold.

Few episodes ago they were attacked by this evil dude. Cassandra here got trapped behind a magic door BUT they didn't show us what happened in there. Maybe she made a deal with someone or is manipulated - we don't know.

Then after that Eugene(Rapunzel's BF gets a warning from a guy who is trapped in a monkey's body "At the end of Rapunzel's journey, one of her party shall turn against her". Who does he sees looking evil? Cassanda.

AND now on the season 2 finale. They finally made it to the dark kingdom and Rapunzel was ready to "meet her destiny". She was just about to touch the moon stone... and then Cassandra takes is and turns into... well THIS! The opposite of Rapunzel. Her long time BEST FRIEND just betrayed her just like that!
