Goodbye Twitter (for now)
Added 2017-10-21 21:45:15 +0000 UTCAs much as I love Twitter, I find more and more that it sucks my time away from the things and people that matter the most to me. As many friends as I've made there and jobs opportunities have come my way, it increasingly feels like a soulless race to the bottom.
So for the time being, I'm retreating to my safe space, here on Patreon, where I can write whatever I want or however I'm feeling for people who value my work enough that they're willing to pay for it. If anyone deserves my writing and wit, it's Team Phetasy. I'll still be using social media to promote Benched and other writings that I've already done that are coming - but that's it.
I've also written over 100,000 words online in the past 2 years and that's not including the magazine column, all the scripts and half of a book proposal. I'd like to devote more of my time to fictional endeavors and less to the outrage economy. I also need a break from the cycle, it's too much anger, not enough compassion.
And honestly, I'd like to spend more time here, cultivating a small sliver of online property where I can engage in a more nuanced approach to writing and life that isn't valued anymore, but I feel is increasingly necessary.
